Tuesday 4 November was a pre-bonfire extravaganza with a riotous colourful display from the very rewarding talk by the excellent Andrew Ward, owner of Norwell Nurseries. His knowledge of all things plant based was outstanding and delivered with aplomb ( no crib sheets were used in this demonstration) a very captivated audience were left wanting more.
And hopefully a visit to Norwell Nursery in 2027, really something to look forward to.
Big thanks to Marilyn Dibble for yet again another brilliant speaker.

About Norwell Nurseries
Jewel box of over 3,000 varieties of different, beautiful and unusual plants sumptuously set out in a one acre plantsman’s garden. Inspirationally planted to show what can be grown on heavy, unforgiving clay in a frost pocket. It includes shady garden with orchids, woodland gems, especially Trilliums, Erythroniums and Astrantias, Hosta walk, with over 100 hostas from miniatures to giants, cottage garden borders, alpine and scree areas. Large naturalistic pond teeming with wildlife and opulently planted margins and bog gardens. Extensive herbaceous borders and effervescent colour themed beds. Patio ‘bell’ borders drip with Dieramas (Angel’s Fishing rods) in mid summer. Innovative Grassoretum (like an arboretum but for grasses). New borders every year. We are the UK pioneers of growing tricky plants in pure sand, now having over twenty innovative sand beds. These provide all year colour for North American, Mediterranean and alpine plants. We are especially known for autumn colour, with Sedums, Asters, Nerines and hardy Chrysanthemums. Highly rated on Trip Advisor and attracts visitors from all over the UK and Europe with many coming as coach parties. National Collection of Hardy Chrysanthemums and Astrantias. Featured in Country Life, English Garden and Garden Answers magazines, Garden’s Illustrated, RHS Garden magazine and the highly prestigious Gardens to Visit books 2012-2025.
