Our current projects at the moment are based around making gifts for family and friends, including personalised Torch Keyrings and Pen Wraps, Trinket Tins and other items, like these lovely Acrylic Coasters with Beaded Tapestries.
A WhatsApp Group named Beading Bedlam has been set up especially for the Beadwork Group. This enables members to keep in touch, get access to help and support, ask questions, send photos and patterns and tutorials whenever they need it between Group meetings.
The Beadwork Group meets at Marilyn Jones’s home every Wednesday from 10:00 am to 12:00 Noon.
A lot of Beadwork knowledge has been acquired during that time.
Christmas Bells
As we are getting ready for Christmas, our Beaders have been beavering away making some of these adorable bells, all starting with the Poinsettia, which was the favourite choice.

Christmas Ornaments

If anyone wants to start their own Beadwork group then I'm happy for anyone to join us as a guest and see how we run things here, and always happy to help out if necessary.
Have a look at the photos below and that will give you an insight into the sort of things that can be made simply using beads.
A large conservatory ensures that everyone has enough space and the best natural light possible (you definitely need it for threading tiny beading needles).
Mansfield U3A's Beadwork Group will enable members to share knowledge and learn new Beadwork stitches and techniques to make beautiful items. Checkout some of our Photos that show just some of the items created.
Using the finest beads, stones, and crystals, different stitches and techniques will be covered mainly, Peyote, Brick, Square, Herringbone, Right Angle Weave (RAW), Cubic Right Angle Weave (CRAW). We will also have the opportunity to work with a Beading Loom to make flat pieces.
The group is always open to new suggestions according to members' interests and provides the opportunity to try out something new. Beginners as well as experienced Beaders are welcome.
Members can source their own beads and materials and a Treasurer has been appointed to keep track of any money when the members want to order beads and materials collectively to share the costs. Marilyn also has a varied stash from which beads and other materials can be purchased at cost.
For information of all activities, please go to the Events page.
Items made over the last couple of years or so...

3D Beaded Stars
In the following 3D Stars, where known, designer's names will be captioned below the photo

Desk Tidies
These beaded tin cans were mostly made from empty baked bean tins that have been sprayed with paint, black mostly, and covered with rows of beads. Our Beaders have made many of these for friends and family.
Original design by Marilyn Jones (Group Leader) and adapted by each individual

Trinket Tins
These elaborate Trinket Tins are delightful to make, with lots of beautiful colours and endless designs. I'm sure they will take pride of place in anyone's home.
Pattern designs by Marilyn Jones (Group Leader) with inspiration from various sources.

Trinket Jars using Recycled Food Jars
The very first bead covered jar made at our Beadwork Group was made from an individual jam jar that you get in cafes. Many of these have been made and given away as gifts to family and friends, and are ideal for momentoes and keepsakes.

Jewellery
All of these items have been beaded by various members of our Beadwork Group over several years.
